The Pontotoc County Lodging Tax deposit for August 2010 was $22,583.07 and indicated an increase of 21.5% from 2009. Calendar year to date collections are down 6.62% from 2009 and 25.7% from 2008. Eight of the last twelve months have experienced a decline in collections from the previous year. The hotel & lodging sector continues to be one of those most affected by the national economic downturn, but the August numbers may indicate that the economy is recovering.
