Since the most recent federal employment figures (September) came out this week showing stagnant signs of recovery, I wanted to share the most recent Ada figures.
The most recent employment figures for all three (Ada, Oklahoma and US) economies is August. The Ada MSA unemployment rate dropped from 5.4%o 5.2% in August. This is opposite of both the US (9.6%) and Oklahoma (7.0%) rates, which both increased.
Additionally, the Ada workforce grew in August while the Oklahoma workforce declined. Our workforce has exceeded 20,000 every month since May 2009 which is the only month since January 2008 that dipped below 20,000.
The October retail sales deposit was down 3.3% over 2009. For the fiscal year, sales taxes are up approximately 8% over last year.
