The June 2010 unemployment rate for Pontotoc County was 5.8%, which is a slight increase from the May rate (5.6%). In the state of Oklahoma, Pontotoc County has the 5th lowest unemployment rate for labor forces greater than 10,000 in size.
The State unemployment rate was 7.1% and increased from 6.9% in May. The national rate for June was 9.6%, which is an increase from 9.3% in May. Pontotoc County continues to remain significantly below the state and national rates. Pontotoc County has also remained one of the lowest unemployment rates in the Southeastern quadrant of the state.
