As reported by KXII:
ADA, OK -- More than 300 people turned out Monday, for the dedication of the new Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, a new facility that's not only bringing updated health care but also new jobs to the area.
"I'm looking forward to getting sick," said patient Jack Whitfield.
Chickasaw and other tribe members from across the area toured the new medical center on Monday.
Governor of the Chickasaw Nation, Bill Anoatubby, says the new center will not only allow the hospital to serve more people, it will allow them to provide new services.
"Offering services some services for the very first time," said Anoatubby. "We've often times had to contract services out but a lot of them are now being down in this facility."
The hospital offers both in-patient and out-patient services, including an expanded dental facility and women's health services.
Dr. Judy Goforth Parker is the Administrator for the Chickasaw Nation Division of Health. She says the facility also provides in-house MRI and CT scanning services that aren't available anywhere else in the state.
"The Chickasaw Nation Medical Center is a facility that offers state of the art care," Parker said. "We have a CT scan that's like none in Oklahoma there are a hundred of them in the world 256 slice and that is state of the art health care."
Dr. Parker says new facility will be more convenient for the more than 20,000 patients the hospital sees every year by offering both diagnostics and treatment in the same place. Something patient Jack Whitfield says he's looking forward to.
"Well you can get it done here and any treatment that you need you can get it at the same facility you don't have to go to a different department or a different town to get it done," Parker said.
Governor Anoatubby says the Chickasaw Nation also has plans to open new expanded health facilities in Ardmore and Tishomingo in the near future, to better serve everyone who uses the Indian health services.
"It's a step and so the next step is to go on and do some more things so that's what we're looking at," Anoatubby said.
