The Federal Housing Finance Authority ranked the State of Oklahoma sixth in the nation for maintaining housing prices during the 1st quarter 2010. The national housing price index saw a decline of 1.9% from the fourth quarter 2009 to first quarter 2010. Additionally, the nationwide housing prices declined 3.1% from the first quarter 2009 to the first quarter 2010.
Oklahoma’s housing prices in the first quarter 2010 did decline by 0.89% from the fourth quarter 2009. However when compared to the first quarter 2009, the housing price index increased by 0.7% in the first quarter 2010. Oklahoma’s HPI has increased by 15.71% from 5 years ago and is up 95.36% from 1991.
The Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas ranked in the top 15 metro areas for maintaining their housing price indexes during the first quarter 2010.
