OKLAHOMA CITY – The U.S. Small Business Administration Oklahoma District Office is seeking successful and inspiring entrepreneurs to represent the state in 2011 Regional and National small business award competitions.
“Many entrepreneurs and champions of small business have shown exceptional ingenuity and resilience during the economic downturn,” said Dottie Overal, Oklahoma District director. “Now is the time to spotlight these hard workers who shine in Oklahoma.”
Yolanda Garcia Olivarez, Region 6 Administrator said, “We all know that small businesses are critical to the growth of our country, and it is important to recognize those individuals who have an impact on keeping our economy strong. I challenge you to nominate deserving small business people from your communities -- it is a great way to say thank you!”
The nominations for these awards start in the district offices. District winners are selected and advance to the regional office for competition and regional winners advance to the national level.
“Preparing a nomination package for these awards is not as intimidating as it seems,” said Ms. Overal. “If you know of a deserving entrepreneur, please contact Vanessa Garcia, 405-609-8000 or email Vanessa.garcia@sba.gov for any questions.” Any individual or organization may submit nominations. A company, owner, or business advocate can also self-nominate.
